Update 11/20/14:  Hi everyone. I am writing this to let you know how well I am doing in my foster home. My knee surgery is completely healed. My coat has grown in and I am a beautiful silver and tan color now. Sometimes my leg will give out, but it is not really a problem, I just keep on going. I am eating well although I have a schedule that is mine alone (I don't eat breakfast). I usually start to eat around lunchtime and can eat two or three times till dinner is over between five and six o'clock. I have become more trusting and will let my parents pick me up without dropping down to the floor like I used to do. I still am easily frightened and look to hide when I feel scared. I have signals to tell my parents when I am hungry or when I have to go out. I will spin and squeal and scratch (always on the left side under my neck). If they see the signal, and put me out, I will do my business outside. I seem to have some visual perceptual weakness, so I don't always process my surroundings accurately. I may not see food on the floor in front of me, or I may bump into things. I do respond to my name and like to sit on my mom's lap or right next to her. I have found my voice and will bark along with the other dogs when someone comes to the door. I would like to say that my special needs make me a special dog. I am looking for a home that will love all of me, treat me gently and with understanding. Please give me my forever home.

Update 8/9/14:  Kaylee is doing really well.  It was decided not to do the 2nd surgery as the recovery was very stressful for her and we do not want to put her through that again.  She is getting around great now and the dogtor feels it is not necessary.  Kaylee is a sweet girl that needs someone with a lot of patience.  She loves to sit in your lap and be stroked.  Please open your heart to this little girl.

Update 4/30/14:  Surgery went well but little Kaylee does not like being crated all day.  Her foster mom didn't get any sleep last night but we are hoping each day will get a little better.

Kaylee is a shy little lady that will need surgery on both her back legs.  Recovery after each surgery is  6-8 weeks of crate rest.  She is slowly coming out of her shell but is timid and nervous and struggles to get free when picked up.  We feel that the best home for this little girl is a quiet household with an older person/couple.  If you have young children or grandchildren that visit regularly, please do not apply for her.  Adoption fee $325.00
