WHERE ARE THEY NOW? From one of our adopters 10.5.15:
Heidi, I found out very quickly why you were so attached to Benjie and why he was so special. I want you to know that he had an amazing life, with loads of friends and family and was showered with love and attention 24/7. He traveled everywhere with me. He came to work with me every day and shopped with me and beached with me and swam with me (in a pool), he had a dog carriage that he loved and he was so well behaved always and made acquaintances easily. Benjie enjoyed sun bathing and and car rides and cuddling most of all. He never slept anywhere but in bed even when I had to travel. I had a pet sitter in my neighborhood that was a vet tech that adored him and kicked her husband and her dog out of bed for Benjie. He lived a charmed life, he touched so many, I can't go anywhere without being asked, "where is Benjie" … he even laid on my lap during massages at the spa. I can't tell you how I miss him so, by far this one hurt the very most.
He had some medical issues, most were fairly easy to live with except for a growth on his trachea which had to be surgically removed. He had a hard time coming out of the anesthesia and was never quite himself again. I'm pretty sure he was much older than we were told, but that didn't matter as he gave love in spades. Last Tuesday he presented with a hernia that was so large that his organs were popping through and he would have needed emergency surgery. He had severe arthritis in his back so he was barely walking anymore and I just couldn't justify risking another surgery and leaving him in pain so I had to let him go. I promise all my dogs that they will never have to suffer and they can leave with dignity….I however am a total basket case. He did come to me in my dreams the next night as a puppy, running towards me and licking me non stop to let me know that he was happy, so that is helping me to get through this.
I am so grateful for Yorkie 911 and all that you do, for without you I would have never found my furbaby soulmate.
